Built to last a lifetime.

Keen is made of custom machined stainless steel, so it is incredibly durable and has a great weight to it. It’s coated in Cerakote, a super durable ceramic coating. With an easily replaceable blade, this thing is heirloom quality and will last a lifetime.

Retractable

A super satisfying deployment.

Keen is a delight to use every time you pick it up. The blade is spring loaded, and deployed with a slider on the side. The slider is held with your thumb when cutting, then the blade sucks back in when released, making it safer than traditional utility knives. An internal magnet helps secure the blade when closed, and adds a satisfying snap to the deployment.

Keen’s simple, harmonious geometry makes it a wonderful desk companion as well, when you're not bringing it with you for everyday carry. Keen is free of any logos or excessive ornamentation, allowing the minimalist form to shine.

Keen is deceptively thin and small, and the rounded edges and curved end make it feel great in the hand, no matter your hand size. This is a tool that anyone should feel comfortable using, and yet it can easily fit into the coin pocket in a pair of jeans.

We designed Keen to be used with either hand. It comes in the right handed configuration, but if you are a South Paw, simply open the back door and flip the blade upside down. Easy peasy.

Thoughtful Details

Keen is full of them.

We sweated every last detail on Keen. An internal magnet allows you to attach Keen to any magnetic surface (keep in on the fridge!). The back door is held on magnetically, allowing you to change or flip the blade without a tool. Every curve, radius, and chamfer was carefully considered.

You Need Keen in your Life

For at least a decade, I've been on a mission to rid my pockets of their daily-carry content. Do I really need to carry these credit cards now that almost everywhere accepts tap payments? Can I downsize my keyring? Can my phone live in my bag? After buying and using the Keen for a few weeks, I have ADDED a daily carry item to my pants pocket for the first time in forever (it fits perfectly in the little jeans watch pocket BTW). Fully justified. Simple, elegant, incredibly satisfying spring/magnet combo.. was it made to feel great in my hand or has my hand always been missing its Keen?? Boxes have no chance to stay 3-dimensional in its presence and it disappears as fast as it emerges, like a dutiful samurai sword. Bravo, Tom and Dan!

Perfection

I love a tool that promises and delivers. Works perfectly, conveniently magnetic for keeping ready in plain sight, and beautiful too!

Balanced convienence

The size and balance are nice, but the amount of resistance to engage the blade is just right. Enough to keep it secure, but “little enough” to make engaging the blade easy.

The magnet also happens to be string enough to keep the knife clinging to my metal desk leg and always within reach.

(maybe not super kid safe, but mine have grown up)
